Founded in 2011, Awqaf New Zealand (Awqaf NZ) is one of the world’s youngest yet most impactful Waqf organizations. It was established with the vision of reviving and modernizing the Islamic tradition of Waqf—charitable endowments—by integrating it into contemporary economic and social solutions.

Awqaf NZ gained global recognition for its innovative approach, winning the prestigious Islamic Economy Award in 2013 during the Global Islamic Economy Summit. This honor was presented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, underscoring Awqaf NZ’s contributions to the advancement of Waqf worldwide.

Awqaf NZ aims to unlock the untapped potential of charitable resources and turn them into sustainable solutions that address pressing community needs. By blending Islamic principles with modern financial tools, Awqaf NZ strives to enhance the efficiency and impact of Waqf, ensuring it remains relevant in today’s world.

Awqaf NZ has forged strong alliances with international organizations, including the Awqaf & Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) in Dubai and the World Food Programme. It has collaborated on projects that range from relief distribution to the development of sustainable farming and housing models.

Introducing Umraty Waqfy


Provide Umrah services at a cost is similar or sometimes cheaper than the Umrah packages provided by other travel agents. The objective of Umraty Waqfy that the income generated from the Umrah ritual will be made “Permanent Cash Waqf” under the name of the person who performed Umrah. We are doing so for the following reasons:

  1. Link your rituals (Sha3yrah – شعيرة) to the Sunnah of Waqf (Umraty Waqfy, Qurbani Waqfy)

  2. Create Cash Waqf awareness among the Muslim communities in the western world
