Frequently asked questions.

What is Umraty Waqfy?

Umraty Waqfy is a unique initiative by Awqaf NZ that links the sacred Umrah ritual with the Islamic tradition of Waqf. It allows individuals to contribute to lasting community development while performing their pilgrimage.

What is Cash Waqf?

Cash Waqf is a monetary endowment used to:

  • Provide Qard Hasan (interest-free loans) for projects like farms supplying Qurbani livestock.

  • Generate income through investments to fund essential community needs such as housing or education.

How does Umraty Waqfy work?

After covering operational costs, part of your Umrah package cost is deposited into a Permanent Cash Waqf under your name. This Waqf funds socioeconomic projects, and you receive a certificate of contribution.

Why is Umraty Waqfy significant?

This is the first time the Umrah ritual has been directly connected to the Sunnah of Waqf, creating a unique opportunity to combine spiritual fulfilment with lasting impact.

What types of projects does the Waqf fund support?

Funds from Cash Waqf are used for:

  • Supporting farms for Qurbani livestock.

  • Building housing for orphans and the elderly.

  • Funding education and healthcare initiatives.

How can I participate?

You can join by booking your Umrah with Umraty Waqfy. A portion of your payment will contribute to a Permanent Cash Waqf, leaving a legacy of giving in your name.
